Most of us live modest lives which are spent in the work of daily round. The desire for bigness --- to live in a big city, to draw a big salary, to make a big impression, to receive big publicity, has hurt so many people. This is wrong idea of greatness.
This fallacy of bigness will bring us to the end of life disillusioned and disappointed. All great lives are modest. Modesty comes from service, never from pretence. The secret of all greatness is to find your place of service and be true to it. A life of service will ever remain the true standard of greatness
